Sentinel Event Reporting
The CABC Indicators are based on time-tested evidence and best practices. Nonetheless, important discoveries can result from root cause analysis of individual sentinel events. The purposes of Sentinel Event review in birth center accreditation are to:
- Collect basic meta data on sentinel events in birth centers to identify trends and then distribute timely safety information.
- Assure that CABC Indicators are current and relevant for birth center safety and quality.
- Encourage birth centers in their work on quality assurance and improvement to provide safe, high quality care to the public that they serve.
