The Midwife’s Place Receives CABC-Accreditation for Three More Years
February 10, 2016 – The Commission for the Accreditation of Birth Centers, Inc. (CABC) announced today that The Midwife’s Place, at 3512 Samson Way #106, Bellevue, NE 68123, is re-accredited beginning in December 2015. The Midwife’s Place was founded in 2011 by Heather Ramsey, a certified nurse midwife, and is staffed by two additional certified nurse midwives as well as four clinic and labor nurses. CABC-accredited since 2011, The Midwife’s Place most recent accreditation is valid through December 2018.
Accreditation in health care is a credential which demonstrates that a facility meets established standards for excellence, maintains a staff that is dedicated to a process of continued learning and quality improvement, and has leadership which welcomes an outside evaluation into the quality of the services provided at the facility. CABC accredits facilities by using the national Standards for Birth Centers, published by the American Association of Birth Centers (AABC). CABC accreditation also explicitly requires that a birth center avoid inappropriate use of technology, employ properly trained staff, use appropriate equipment to provide safe care in a birth center, and adhere to best practices in evidence-based maternity care.
The CABC process includes an extensive examination of all aspects of the birth center’s operations, including a review of risk criteria, policies and procedures, personnel files, clinical outcomes, and an inspection of the facility.
